    Obituary:

Clarence Newton Campbell went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 26, 2022. Newt, as his friends called him, was the oldest son of Paul and Juanita Campbell. Newt lived a full and fulfilling life.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, November 2, 2022 in the Chapel of Owens and Brumley Funeral Home in Burkburnett.

He met Marlene Burkhart- the love of his life- while studying at the University of Arizona. After graduation, they were married on July 30, 1960, and Newt started his career in the Air Force. An officer and pilot for 24 years, Newt flew many different types of aircraft. In Vietnam, he flew 700 combat missions, earning numerous awards and decorations.

Newt was an instructor pilot, teaching hundreds of young military men how to fly. During this time, he and Marlene had a son, Robert, and a daughter, Deborah. The family would often run into his former student pilots in chance encounters. No matter where the family was stationed, Newt was active in the local Baptist church, serving in many positions including deacon.

Newt was an amateur radio operator his whole life, earning his operator's license at the age of 13. As a "Ham", Newt was involved with the weather spotter's organization. Many people tuned in to hear if he would broadcast, "Marlene, go to the hall" as their cue to "duck and cover". He was the county emergency coordinator for amateur radio operators and a national traffic system net control operator.

Newt enjoyed helping the community. He coordinated emergency services for the Hotter 'N Hell Hundred for 40 years. He helped erect the Hospice Tree of Lights for fifteen years.

Newt is survived by his wife of 62 years, Marlene, children Robert and wife Kim of Cresson, TX, Deborah Hattendorf and husband, Paul of Flower Mound, TX; grandchildren Kelsey Moelling and husband Jonathan of Ft. Worth, TX, Madison Lowrie and husband, Nathan of Cresson, TX, Erik Hattendorf, and Scott Hattendorf; great-grandchildren Campbell and Olivea Moelling; and his brother, Paul C. Campbell II and wife, Mardena of Corpus Christie, TX; and grand-nephew Paul C. Campbell III and wife, Sandy.
