    ATHENS - Services for Billy Doran McNew, 74, Athens, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at Eastern Hills Church of Christ. Arrangements are under direction of Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home, Athens.

    Mr. McNew died March 23, 2011. He was born Jan. 12, 1937, in Big Spring to R.X. "Jack" and Lillie Ruth McGuire McNew. He was a retired seismographer.

    Survivors include wife, Patricia "Pat" McNew; sons, Mark Allen and Stephen Douglas McNew; daughter, Vickie Lynn Cubillos; one brother; five sisters; and eight grandchildren.

    Visitation will be 6 to 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

    ATHENS- Services for Billy Doran McNew, 74, Athens, are scheduled for 2 p.m., Saturday at Eastern Hills Church of Christ with David Mahan officiating. Cremation will follow. Mr. McNew passed away March 23, 2011 in Athens. He was born Jan. 12, 1937 in Big Spring to the late R.X. "Jack" and Lillie Ruth McGuire McNew. Billy moved to Athens in 1974, and became a member of Eastern Hills Church of Christ soon after his arrival. He has been a faithful servant to the Lord and his community for 35 years. Billy joyfully served a number of years as a volunteer with the Community Care Food Pantry. Bill had a 44-year tenure as a seismographer for Western Geophysical with assignments world wide. Following retirement in 1999, he continually was summoned as a consultant until 2005. Those whom Bill loved that preceded him in death were his grandsons, Mark Shannon McNew, Jeffery Doran McNew, brothers James Roy McNew and Rexie Ray McNew. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Patricia "Pat" McNew, Athens; sons, Mark Allen McNew and wife Lulu, Athens, Stephen Douglas McNew and wife Mary, Leander, daughter, Vickie Lynn Cubillos and husband Carlos, Charlotte, N.C.; brother, Bobby Dale McNew, Edenberg; sisters, Joy Lee Howland, Carolyn Kay Rodgers, Barbara L. Clark, all of Big Spring, Valta Jean Crowder, Navasota, Sharon Rose Husson, Blue Ridge; eight grandchildren. Visitation for family and friends will be 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Friday at the Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers family request donations in Bill's memory be made to Community Care Food Pantry at Eastern Hills Church of Christ, P. O. Box 1997, Athens, TX 75751.

    Master McNew died Saturday in a Breckenridge hospial.

    He was an honor student at Elkhart Elementary School and a member of the Crockett Road Church of Christ, Palestine.
