    ANDREWS - Services for Claudia Irene Gross, 75, of Andrews, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Second Baptist Church with burial in Andrews Cemetery under the direction of Singleton Funeral Home.

    Mrs. Gross was found dead at her home about noon Sunday. Justice of the Peace G. A. Ragsdale pronounced her dead and ruled her death was from natural causes.

    She was born in Groesbeck Jan. 28, 1904, and had lived in Andrews 31 years, coming from Seagraves.

    Survivors include six sons, W.J. (Bill) Gross, Wesley Gross, Leslie Gross, Lester Gross and Lonnie Gross, all of Andrews, and J.B. Gross of Anchorage, Alaska; a daughter, Evelyn Bonham of Kermit; two sisters, Etta High of Seagraves and Flora Sturgeon of Seymour; three brothers, Ernest Bryant of Andrews, Elward Bryant of Pasadena and Hillis Bryant of Texas City; 20 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.

    Bill Gross, 68, longtime resident of Andrews, died Sunday at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa after a brief illness. He was born March 3, 1923, in Seymour. He married Betty Turner Jan. 24, 1955, in Lovington, N.M.

    Gross moved to Andrews in 1947 from Seagraves. He was owner and operator of Bill's Garage. He was a mechanic. He was a Baptist and a member of the Andrews Fire Department.

    Survivors included his wife; two sons, James Jones of An­drews and Marvin Jones of Henderson; four daughters, Claudia Helms and Geraldine Helms, both of Odessa; Wanda Edmiston of Eldorado and Diane Page of San Angelo; five brothers, J.B.     J.B. passed away in Big Spring, Texas Friday morning, May 30, 2008. He was born on February 1, 1924 in Paduchah, Texas. J.B. served in the Army Air Corps in W.W. II. He was a welder for the state of Alaska for many years before retirement. He maried Helen Mable Works on July 25, 1968 in Anchorage, Alaska. Helen preceded J.B. in death on September 19, 2002.

    Evelyn Leona Gross Bonham, age 83, of Kermit went to be with her Lord and Savior on November 10, 2009 at her home after a long illness. She was born on January 3, 1926 in Holliday, Texas to Buman & Claudia Gross. She grew up in Seagraves, graduated from Seagraves High School and met the love of her life in Seagraves, Harold J Bonham. They married on Valentine's Day, February 14, 1947. Harold & Evelyn were happily married for 55 years before his death in 2002.

    Evelyn was a resident of Kermit for 42 years where she was also a faithful member and secretary of Eastside Church of Christ before her illness kept her at home.

    Evelyn was preceded in death by both her parents, her husband, her grandson: Shannon Health Bonham, as well as 6 brothers: William Gross, Lester Gross, Leslie Gross, Wesley Gross, Lonnie Gross, and J. B. Gross - all from Andrews, Texas.

    Evelyn is survived by one son: Dwayne Bonham and wife Glenda; and one daughter: Phyllis Renz and husband Jim, both from Fort Stockton, Texas; two grandchildren: Frank Bonham of Fort Stockton and Philip Renz from Spur, Texas; one great-grandson: Matthew Trey Bonham from Pierre, South Dakota; two brother-in-laws: Jack Bonham and wife Lucille from Washington, Iowa and Bill Bonham and wife Laverne of Houston, Texas; one sister-in-law: Cherry Gross from Andrews; and numerous nieces and nephews. She also had 3 wonderful caregivers that are part of the family: Becky Quiroz, Minnie Griffis, and Donna Chacon.

    Services for Evelyn will be at Eastside Church of Christ on Thursday, November 12 at 2 p.m. with Brian McGonagill of Carlsbad, New Mexico officiating. Interment will follow in Andrews at the Andrews Cemetery at 4:00 p.m. under the direction of the Family Services Funeral Parlor in Kermit.

    He was a backhoe operator for Coats Construction for many years.

    He was preceded in death by his wife, Geneva Gross, in 1998; a son, Wesley A. Gross in 1950; and two grandsons, Randal Williford Jr. and Joshua Johnson.

    He is survived by three daughters, Marquita Johnson of San Angelo, Linda Talasky of Chico and Debbie Dockery of Comanche; two brothers, J.B. Gross and Lonnie Gross, both of Andrews; one sister, Evalyn Bonham of Kermit; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

    Gross died Thursday, Sept. 15, 1994, in Permian General Hospital.

    He was born Feb. 16, 1930, in Holliday, Archer County, Texas to Bumon Johnson and Claudia Irene Bryant Gross. He married Lola Fowler on November 04, 1949 in NM. He later, married Juanita Johnston Vowell on Dec. 29, 1979, in Andrews. He moved to Andrews from Seagraves in 1947, and he was a member of Second Baptist Church.

    He was a retired auto mechanic.

    Proceeded in death by his parents, Bumon Johnson and Claudia Irene Bryant Gross.

    Survivors include his wife; 3 sons, Marvin Gross of Big Spring, step-son, James Fowler of Eagle Pass and Step-son, Dwayne Vowell of Quinlan; two daughters, Shirley Borders of Cedartown, Ga., and step-daughter, Malta Coffer of Roswell, N.M.; four brothers, J.B., Leslie, Wesley, and Lonnie, all of Andrews; a sister, Evelyn Bonham of Kermit; 11 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild, Sean Borders.

He moved to Andrews in 1947 from Seagraves and married Cherry Lee Johnson on December 9, 1950 in Andrews. He served in the U.S. Marines during the Korean Conflict. He owned and operated Gross Garage in Andrews for 52 years. He was a founding member of the Andrews Volunteer Fire Department and a member of Second Baptist Church. He loved drinking coffee with his brother and friends at Buddy's Drive In; twice a day; every day. He was preceded in death by 1 son: Gary Lee Gross in 1972; his parents; and 5 brothers.

    He is survived by his wife: Cherry Gross of Andrews; 1 son: Rusty Gross of Andrews; 1 daughter: Robbie Hale of Andrews; 1 brother: James B. Gross of Andrews; 1 sister: Evelyn Bonham of Kermit; 4 grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren.

    She is survived by her sons, Michael Williford and wife Taffaney of Chico and Wesley Williford of Chico; her boyfriend, Roger Crain of Chico; grandchildren, Nocona, Ryan, Jamie,Damon, Makaya and Harley; sisters, Margita Johnson and Debbie Dockery; numerous nieces,nephews, cousins and a host of friends.     Lester Marvin Gross better known as Marvin passed away January 20, 2019 at the age of 63. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, January 26, 2019 at Spring Creek Fellowship in Big Spring.

    Marvin was born September 27, 1955 in Andrews to Lester Gross and Lola Mae Fowler Gross. He lived in Andrews until he moved to Big Spring in the mid 60's. He met Betty Jean Loftin in 1974 and they married May 7, 1976 in Colorado City, Texas.

    Marvin and Betty worked together at the Phillips 66 Station on 4th Street. He worked for CMC as a welder, working his way up to Foreman. In the 1970's he was a carpenter, helping build Texas Tech University in Lubbock. He also build most of the house on Vicki Street. In 1981 after saving money made from changing and fixing tires Marvin and Betty built and opened Marvin's Garage.

    Marvin is survived by his wife Betty; three daughters, Betsy Morrison, Tammy (Stacey) Pair and Katie Gross; a son, Marvin (Liz) Gross; six grandchildren, Kari Gross, Baylea Gross, Destiney Rogers, Meagen Rogers, Briggs Gross and MaeLynn Torres; a sister in law, Linda (Doug) Randle and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

    He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Julie Thompson in June and an infant sister, Mary Ann Gross.

    The family would like to thank everyone during his brief battle with pancreatic cancer. Your kindness, calls, thoughtfulness will not be forgotten.

    Gary Lee Gross Rites Friday

    ANDREWS (Special) - Services for Gary Lee Gross, 16-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Lonnie Gross of Andrews, will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Second Baptist Church here.

    Burial will be in Andrews Cemetery directed by Singleton Funeral Home.

    The youth, a junior at Andrews High School, was injured in a motorcycle accident last week. He was first taken to Permian General Hospital here, then transferred to Odessa's Medical Center Hospital. He died at 9:30 p. m. Wednesday after being hospitalized seven days.

    He was born July 20, 1954, in Seminole, and was a member of the Second Baptist Church here.

    Survivors other than his parents include one sister, Robbie, and one brother, Rusty, both of the home; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Johnson of Lovington, New Mex.; a grandmother, Mrs. B. J. Gross of Andrews; and a great grandmother, Mrs. Jim Elmore of Seagraves.

    ANDREWS (Staff) - Services for Gary Lee Gross, 16, were to be held at 2:30 p.m. today in the Second Baptist Church here with burial in Andrews Cemetery directed by Singleton Funeral Home.

    She was born in Corpus Christi to Harry Layton and Diana White on Nov. 20, 1979. She received a Palomar education in the study of phlebotomy and enjoyed working in the Hospital and Health care profession.

    Richelle was preceded in death by her great-grandmother, Eunice Ferguson; grandfathers, Harry Layton Sr. and Richard Gross Sr.

    Richelle is survived by her husband, Josh CasteBlanco; her father, Harry Layton Jr. (Monica); her mother, Diana White (Jeff); sister, Veronica Lowry (Todd); stepbrother, Mike Alto; two nephews, Kristopher and Matthew Lowry; two grandmothers, Nell Layton and Audria Johnston (Ralph); one sister-in-law, Jessica Blanco-Busam (Michael); three uncles, Floyd Layton (Charlie), Michael Layton (Terry), and Richard Gross (Sarah); three aunts, Cassandra Carte (Philip), Debbie Salge (Robert), and Denise Salinas (Mario); and numerous cousins and friends. Richelle had a great passion for saving pets and bringing them home to call them her own; her special pets were Buttercup, Oreo, Flower and Zombie.

    Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 26, in the Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed at St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery in Violet.

    Mr. Donald Edward Borders, age 29, of Cedartown, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, June 2, 2011. He was born on September 2, 1981 in Rome, Georgia. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ray E. and Shirley M. Gross Borders.

    Mr. Borders is survived by his loving wife, Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Forrister Borders; his parents; daughter, Katelynn Elizabeth Borders; son, Brandon Avery Borders; sisters and brother-in-law, Christina Sharee Palmer and husband David Palmer and Tanya Borders; brother and sister-in-law, Randy and Melissa Borders and grandparents, Raymond and Beatrice Borders and Lola Thomason.

    Mr. Borders is preceded in death by his grandfathers, Mr. Lester Gross and Mr. Jackie Thomason.

    The funeral arrangements for Mr. Borders will be conducted on Monday, June 6, 2011 at ten o'clock in the morning from the Chapel of the Gammage Funeral Home with Minister Craig Hallman officiating.

    Interment will follow in the Northview Cemetery.

    The family of Mr. Borders will receive family and friends on Sunday, June 5, 2011 from six o'clock in the evening until nine o'clock in the evening at the Gammage Funeral Home and also on Monday, June 6, 2011 from nine o'clock in the morning until the funeral hour and the Gammage Funeral Home.

    Misty Cowan, 36, of Andrews passed away Friday June 22, 2012 at Permian Regional Medical Center in Andrews.

    Misty was born April 7, 1976 in Andrews. She has been a lifelong resident of Andrews. She had many many friends and she loved to take care of and to help people. She loved her Animals.

    She was involved in an accident at the age of 14 that left her paralyzed but that never stopped her from living a full life. She was one of the first in Andrews to have a K-9 Companion to help her.

    She is survived by her mother Robbie and husband Ken Hale of Texhoma, Oklahoma; sister Shannon Diane Fretwell of Andrews; grandmother Cherry Gross of Andrews; grandfather Henry Cowan of Spade, Texas; her boyfriend, Brent Terry of Andrews and several nieces and nephews.
