Notes:
The Shiloh Cemetery is a multi-family cemetery near the town of Franklin, Texas. The first known burial was in 1849. The cemetery contains members of the Masonic Lodge, Order of the Eastern Star and Woodsmen of the World, a mother and her two young daughters who died from the Yellow Fever outbreak of 1873 on a single day in March, a cenotaph of a couple who donated their bodies to science, and both marked and unmarked graves. This cemetery is a testament to the pioneering spirit of several families that left their homes in the United States to strike out for the mostly unknown and dangerous territory of Mexico, then to fight for their freedom to become an independent state – The Republic of Texas, to later join the United States and then fight again for their way of life.
