1008 Obituary:

Deana N. Thomas
October 28, 1962 - February 20, 2023

Deana Nicole Thomas (Kelley), age 60, of Pasadena, passed peacefully in her sleep at home on Monday, February 20, 2023. Though she will be dearly missed on this side of heaven, her family takes comfort knowing that she now rests in the arms of the Lord.

Deana (De) was born on October 28, 1962 to Herman & Johnnie Kelley (Owens) and was the 2nd of six children. Maternal by nature, she always shared a special bond with her siblings and her many nieces and nephews.

Deana graduated from Pasadena High in 1980 and was well loved by her classmates, many which she kept in touch with over the years. Deana married Michael Thomas on February 12, 1981 and was a devoted wife for 42 years. She was blessed with three children Jonathon, Joshua and Sharla who she adored. The only thing Deana loved more than being a mother was watching her children become parents and getting promoted to "DeDe." She was so proud of her grandbabies and when she wasn't loving on them she was crocheting blankets and toys for them to cherish for years to come.

Deana will be remembered fondly for her huge heart, the Christ-like grace she always showed others and her amazing snowman collection that was proudly displayed 4 months out of the year. She always acted out of love and only saw the best in everyone. With her quick wit and great sense of humor, De always knew how to light up a room. She spent countless hours working on cookbooks, her family tree, hosting nieces and nephews for vacation Bible school and crafting. Deana loved life and everyone in it, her memory will be cherished by all who were fortunate enough to know her in this lifetime.

Deana is preceded in death by her father Herman Kelley, grandson Noah Thomas, mother-in-law Sammye Massey and husband Ray Massey. Deana is survived by her Mother, husband of 42 years, her beloved children and their spouses, 10 beautiful grandchildren, 5 siblings and countless nieces and nephews.

Deanna loved playing softball and spent most of her life doing so. She was an enthusiastic second baseman. It was on the field that she made many memories with the people that would eventually become her lifelong friends.

Deanna spent over 20 years working for Larson Juhl as a warehouse manager. After many years of loyal service to Larson, she was diagnosed with a terminal cancer. She spent the next year battling health problems in between living her life to the fullest and making the most with the time she had left on this earth.

All who knew Deanna felt the love and joy in her heart. She was a loyal and caring, mother, sister, and friend. She was taken from us much too soon and will be missed by many.

Death of Mr. C. J. Swain

Mr. C. J. Swain departed this life on last Friday evening, at about six o'clock, at his residence on Washington avenue, after an illness of many years, the last sixteen months of which he has been confined to his bed. The cause of death was paralysis.

Mr. Swain has been a resident of this section for many years, and has been in the mercantile business for the past five or six years at Titusville, which business he was still conducting at the time of his death. Although a sick man for so many months, he still retained a great interest in his business and the political situation of the State and county.

The funeral services was held at the Baptist church, Sunday afternoon at four o'clock, being conducted by Rev. J. G. Parsons, with interment in the Titusville cemetery.
The funeral arrangements were in charge of Undertaker A. Froscher and son, and the following acted as pallbearers: Messrs. B. C. Edwards, R. L. Baldwin, C. H. Whitaker, C. J. Denham, W. B. Hall and Harry Wilson.

As a token of the esteem in which Mr. Swain was held, the Baptist church was unable to accommodate all who attended the service, and many were compelled to leave for lack of room.

Although flowers are extremely scarce at this time of year, there was an abundance of them at the funeral of this esteemed citizen of Titusville, and the grave was completely hidden by the profusion of flowers sent by loving friends.
Mr. Swain had passed his three score and ten, as he was in his eighty-third year, and is survived by a large number of relatives as follows:

Mrs. C. J. Swain, Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Swain, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Swain, Mr. and Mrs. L. O. Swain, Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Swain, Mr. and Mrs. W. E. She was never afraid to grab one of the grandkids and make them dance too. She was my first best friend and the strongest woman I know. We learned how to love unconditionally and give love unconditionally from her because she modeled this to us day in and day out. Some of her family's earliest memories was their mom either playing the piano or the squeeze box accordion- music like Fats Domino or some other sort of 50's music. We would like to thank Ascension Baptist for the love and devotion to Julian and Deborah Robert. We would like to thank Louisiana Hematology Oncology and Our Lady of the Lake for the great care especially the ICU unit on the 5th floor. Deborah Jean Clement of Germantown, Wisconsin passed into eternity to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, January 11, 2025 at the age of 72. She served the Lord with her whole heart in a ministry she believed in, GriefShare. Through her work with the GriefShare ministry she was able to bless many people during their times of grief and bring them closer to the Lord.

Deborah was preceded in death by her husband, Gary Clement, and her parents. She is survived by stepdaughter, Monica (Tom) Drews, adopted daughter Vera (Lee) Jacobs, brother Michael Stipe, sister Sharon (David) Grizzle, as well as two nieces and a nephew.

1036 Obituary:

Delilah Sewell Brosset
July 20, 1952 - June 7, 2018

Sixty-five years ago, on July 20, 1952, Delilah, a precious red-headed baby girl, was born to Mona Brunson and N. A. "Candyman" Sewell in Shreveport, Louisiana. Years later, Delilah Sewell married the love of her life, Mark Wayne Brosset, Sr. of Cloutierville, LA, on July 1, 1982.

The Lord called Delilah's sweet soul Home on Thursday, June 7, 2018. She was surrounded by her loving and devoted husband, daughters, sisters, and a host of loved ones as she passed from this life into the arms of Jesus. Some of the last words Delilah heard on this earth were spoken by her husband, "I loved you then, I love you now, and I'll love you forever." Throughout Delilah's life her kindness and love for others revealed a true servant's heart.

For over 30 years, she worked as a pediatric nurse taking care of hundreds of babies in the Natchitoches community. Her calm and kind nature soothed not only her tiny patients, but their anxious parents as well. She was always willing to help those in need, without expecting anything in return. Whether diapers, formula, medicine, or any other necessity was needed, she would find a way to make available what a young mother might need in order to provide for her child. And as a volunteer for the Special Olympics, she supplied love and support for many athletes throughout the years. On one of Delilah's FaceBook posts, she listed what she was most thankful for: God, family, friends, and her little pug dog Sugar B. Delilah's family and pug were her most cherished earthly treasures. She loved her family with an intensity and devotion that was unrivaled, and her arms were always open to give comfort and love. Her wisdom was sought out by many and every conversation ended with her saying "I love you more."

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Mark Wayne Brosset, Sr.; children, Amanda Brosset, Monique Brosset, and Michael Brosset and wife Dedrie; grandchildren, Nikie Brosset, Travis James, and Madison Brosset-Freeman; great-grandchildren, Savannah Carter, Jadyn Brosset, Matthew Joseph Brosset, and Alyssa James; sisters Candis and husband Wayne Airhart, and Leah and husband Bill Gordy; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Delilah is preceded in death by her grandparents Kathryn and J.E. Brunson of Shreveport, LA, and Annie and James Sewell of Martin, Louisiana; parents Mona and N. A. "Candyman" Sewell of Natchitoches, LA; brother Johnny Albert Sewell, son Mark Wayne Brosset, Jr., and grandson Matthew Reagan Brosset.

Visitation will be held from 5 pm to 9 p.m., with the recitation of the Rosary at 7 p.m., on Tuesday, June 12, at Blanchard Saint Denis in Natchitoches. The funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday, June 13, at St Anthony Catholic Church, 911 5th Street in Natchitoches with Father John O'Brien officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Lawn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, Delilah requested that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital and The Pug Queen Rescue, via website https://www.paypal.me/ThePugQueen.

Delilah, we love you more.

1046 Obituary:

Deputy Jonathan Scott Pine

BOSSIER CITY, LA - A memorial celebrating the life of Scott Pine will be held Saturday, May 31, 1:30pm at Airline Baptist Church, 4007 Airline Drive, Bossier City.

Scott, 34, was an Orange County, Florida Deputy Sheriff. He was born July 12, 1979 in Shreveport, Louisiana and graduated from Airline High School in 1997. He attended Louisiana Tech where he received his MBA. While there, he met and fell in love with Bridget Roseboom. A short time later they moved to the Orlando area. The couple soon married and, over the years, God blessed them with three beautiful children. After 8 years working in the banking industry, Scott, a man of deep faith, felt called to serve in law enforcement. He joined the Orange County Sheriff's Office in May of 2011 as a Deputy Sheriff on the midnight shift. When not at work, he was often in the park playing with his children or teaching Haley to ride her bike, all of which would be quickly posted to Facebook. He loved to travel and camp with his family. He enjoyed playing games, wrestling, reading, and nighttime prayers with his children. Scott was an avid LSU fan and was dedicated to God, family, friends and co-workers. He worked tirelessly to protect and serve the citizens of Orange County. He epitomized the inscription on his patrol vehicle, "Making A Difference". On February 11, 2014, Deputy Scott Pine was shot and killed while investigating reports of multiple car burglaries. He served his community with honor and dignity. Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife, Bridget Pine, children, Haley, Ryker and Maddox Pine; mother, Donna Pine Robinson and husband, Dr. James Robinson of Bossier City, LA; father, Robert Pine and wife, Terry of Oklahoma; grandmother, Dolores Gibbs; sister, Angela Mills and husband, Chad; sister, Lori Lucas; brother, Charlie Pine; sister-in-law, Denise Purdy and husband, Tyler; brother-in-law, Jeremy Roseboom and wife, Stephanie; mother-in-law, Frances Taylor and husband, Johnny; father-in-law, Jeff Roseboom and wife, Mary; nieces and nephews, Hayden and Parker Mills, Seth Pine, Josie, Zoe and Layla Roseboom and Ethan and Eli Purdy and many other family members.

Because of Scott's love for all things LSU, we are encouraging memorial attendees to wear their LSU gear or purple and gold to celebrate the life of our hero. In memory of Deputy Scott Pine, we ask you to thank a law enforcement officer. When they put on their badge and walk out the door, there is no guarantee they will return home to their family.
