3404 Obituary:

Shana Renee (Shirley) Ogden
January 16, 1971 - January 26, 2023

Shana Renee Shirley Ogden, 52, of Bryan, Texas passed away January 26, 2023 peacefully surrounded by family and friends. A graveside service will be held at 2:30 P.M., Sunday, February 5, 2023 at Reliance Baptist Church.

Shana was born in Bryan, Texas on January 16, 1971 to Gregory and Linda Shirley. Shana lived in Bryan within the Reliance Community for most of her life.

Shana's achievements have been rewarded with trophies but by our appreciation of her talent to give every bit of herself in her work, her gatherings, and her contributions to others. Shana truly had a heart bigger than Texas. She was a sister to everyone and often paid forward the blessings she was bestowed with. Shana was a daughter, sister, niece, mom, but she was so proud to become a Nana!

Shana was the life of any gathering with her huge smile and her laugh. She loved to be with her family and friedns and made sure to let them know how much she loved them. Birthdays, Christmas, Valentine's, no matter the occasion, she always had a little gift to give everyone. She always had others in her thoughts and ejoyed making others smile. Shana loved to sing karaoke and she enjoyed riding her motorcycle when she was able to do so.

Shana's motto was: Hugs, Love & Smiles

Shana was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2017. As treatments made it harder for her to be too far from home, she found a group of friends in our neighborhood and the "porch pals" were formed. We spent many evenings laughing, crying and helping each other through the things that life threw our way. Every loss and every victory, we supported each other.

Shana has had many struggles in her battle with ovarian cancer over the past six years. Some of that time was spent fighting side by side with her mother who lost her battle with breast cancer in 2020. In 2021, Shana also lost her one and only son, Cameron during her battle with cancer. She still managed to fight her own battle with strength and dignity. Although she has lost her battle, she has truly won the war. She is no longer bound by this worls and the suffering she had endured. Shana has made her final journey HOME and is with her loved ones that have gone before her.

Shana was preceded in death by her son, Cameron Ogden; mother, Linda Shirley; great-niece, Arianna Battelle; and her grandparents. She is survived by the biggest joy in her life, granddaughter, Delilah Ogden; daughter-in-love, Heather Ogden; father, Gregory Shirley; mother-in-love, Hazel Ogden; sister, Marquel Knapp; nephew, Richard Shirley-Salinas (girlfriend, Dealyn Hedger); niece, Elizabeth Knapp; uncles, aunts, cousins and an uncountable number of friends that are considered as family.

The family would like to thank Dr. Sybil Taquet, Dr. Erin Fleener, team at Bryan Cancer Clinic, CHI St. Joseph and their staff for all their love and care.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bryan Cancer Clinic in her memory.

Shawn Michael McBroom
February 22, 1972 - November 6, 2024

Shawn Michael McBroom, a cherished family man and friend passed away peacefully on November 6, 2024, in Channelview, Texas. Born in Houston, Texas, on February 22, 1972, Shawn's warmth and humor brought joy to all who knew him throughout his 52 years of life.

Shawn was the beloved son of Charles and Theresa McMichael, who nurtured his kind and playful spirit. After marrying Katrina Brewer McBroom, together they blended their families that included his proud son, Jacob McBroom and his wife Stephanie, as well as his step-daughters, Dana (Scritchfield) Sands and her husband Zack, and Abbie Brewer. He was a devoted brother to Jennifer Fingleman and her husband Allen. Shawn's legacy of love continues through his cherished grandchildren, Rose Elaine and Daisy Violet, and step-grandchildren, James Sallee and Lillian Wilson. His nieces Kayla Fingleman and Bailey Fingleman, along with great-nephews Oliver Jayce Rodriguez and Travis Allen Huston, and great-niece Raelei Kae Huston, will carry fond memories of their uncle's humor and guidance.

Shawn was preceded in death by his grandparents, Cecil and Doris McBroom, and his uncle, Cecil H. McBroom. They have now welcomed him with open arms into eternal peace.

A proud graduate of Channelview High School in 1990, Shawn's journey of lifelong learning and personal growth never waned. After high school, he began his career as a bartender, where his quick wit and personable nature made him a favorite among patrons. Shawn's work ethic and dedication led him to a fulfilling career with Westway, where he served as an Operator for over 20 years. His colleagues remember him as a reliable and hardworking individual who brought both professionalism and levity to the workplace.

Shawn's intelligence and humor were matched by his diverse interests. An avid player of Dungeons and Dragons, he brought creativity and strategic thinking to every campaign. His passion for gaming extended to the virtual realms of God of War, where he embarked on epic quests and adventures. Shawn's love for darts was well-known, and he could often be found at the oche, throwing precise shots and sharing laughs with friends. An avid reader, he was always ready to explore new worlds through the pages of a book or to entertain others with a well-timed joke.

Those who knew Shawn will remember him as a smart, funny, and intelligent man-a great son, brother, father, and grandfather. His presence was a source of stability and joy in the lives of his family and friends. His absence will be deeply felt, but his spirit will continue to inspire and guide those who were fortunate enough to have known him.

Shawn's life was a testament to the power of love, laughter, and dedication. His impact on the world was as profound as it was gentle, and he will be greatly missed by the numerous family members, friends, and colleagues whose lives he touched. We celebrate the memories of Shawn and the enduring love he shared with us all. His story does not end here, for it lives on in the hearts of those he loved and in the countless moments of joy and kindness he bestowed upon the world.

3417 Obituary:

Shelly Michelle Walser Jetsel
May 26, 1971 - October 25, 2021

Shelly Michelle Walser Jetsel, 50, of Boise, passed away October 25, 2021. Shelly Michelle Walser Jetsel came into the world on May 26, 1971, in Dallas Texas bringing much joy to her parents Robert Lee Walser Jr and Darlene Blankenship Walser and her older brother Wes Walser.

She spent her childhood and youth in Grand Prairie, TX where she had many friends at school and in her church community. Shelly graduated from South Grand Prairie High School in May 1989.

Shelly met Kyle Jetsel at an LDS Young Adult Dance and that meeting was the beginning of a unique and REAL true-life love story to be envied. It was more than a romance - it was a friendship and partnership that was meant to be. They were sealed in the Dallas Texas temple on June 1, 1991. Those who knew Kyle and Shelly witnessed the special relationship they nurtured through the years. They were a match made in Heaven. Kyle and Shelly complemented each other in every way and their love and support for each other was a joy to witness and an example to all who knew them.

They began their life together in Grand Prairie, Cedar Hill, and Red Oak Texas. After having four sons, Shelly longed for another child. She and Kyle discussed having another baby. And sure enough, when she went to her first doctor visit, the doctor announced there was not one, but two little ones - TWINS - on the way. Kyle's comment to the doctor: "That's not funny," and the doctor's answer: "We don't kid about stuff like this." A few months later, they welcomed another son and their first daughter into the family. Shelly got her long-awaited daughter and then knew her family was complete.

To know Shelly was to love her. Shelly's kind and gentle demeanor drew people to her. Shelly carried a serenity and calmness that was refreshing in today's world and put others at ease. Her joy for life made people want to be around her. Her smile and laugh were contagious. She would often say, "You gotta do what cha gotta do," confidently leading the way in doing the right thing, no matter the challenge she faced.

Shelly blessed the lives of anyone who knew her in too many ways to count. She served others in many capacities in her church community as she shared her many talents in Primary, Sunday School, Relief Society and Young Women's organizations. Shelly had a strong testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. The greatest asset Shelly shared with those around her was through her example as she exemplified the qualities of Christ in all she did. Shelly has always been a quiet force for good.

Shelly's eye for beauty and her extraordinary talents and creativity blessed the lives of those who knew her. She started a business called Green Apple Boutique that drew in other women who created beautiful things and helped them share their talents as well. Shelly had a vast collection of items she made and sold over the years. She loved repurposing just about anything from furniture to an old rake handle that hangs on the wall of her beautiful home and is used as a key rack. She was a gifted seamstress and would sew pillows and draperies and much more to sell. Creating beauty and helping others sell their creations brought Shelly true joy.

Shelly's greatest joy and accomplishment in life was her family. She adored her five sons and one daughter. Family meant everything to her. She loved and served her children daily, always setting a good example for them of the kind of people they should strive to be. Kyle and Shelly worked hard to successfully create a family unit where their children could thrive and where love and support were constant.

Shelly's influence on all who knew her will be felt forever. This valiant and cherished Daughter of God ended her mortal journey on October 25, 2021 and returned to the arms of our Heavenly Father. Our lives are better from having associated with her. We will miss her terribly, but we will hold our memories of her close to our hearts and smile when we think of her. We will move forward with the absolute knowledge that we will be able to see her again someday.

Shelly is survived by her husband Kyle Jetsel; their children, Alek (Carrie), Zak (Danika), Erik, Ricky, Chloe and Jack Jetsel; parents, Bobby and Darlene Walser; brother, Wes (Marilyn); niece, Allyse Walser; nephew, Robbie Walser; brother-in-law, Kurtis Jetsel, Kreg Jetsel, Keath Jetsel; sister-in-law, Krystal Singleton; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held, 11:00 am, Wednesday, November 3, 2021, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 3775 E. Ustick Rd., Meridian, with a viewing beginning at 10:00 am. A committal servcie will follow at Dry Creek Cemetery, 9600 Hill Rd., Boise.

Squire Charles L. Lewis
April 29, 1930 - April 11, 1995

Squire Charles Lewis was born in Laurel, New Jersey; he raised himself from age 13, following the deaths of his parents. He is survived by his daughter, Cristin and his brothers, Philemon of Sheffield Lake, Ohio and William of Ponte Verde Beach, Florida.

Through the span of his extraordinary life, Squire worked as a laborer, carpenter, stone mason, Fuller Brushman, sheep herder, Irish Wolfhound breeder, IBM tabulating machine operator, steel mill grinder and photographer. He participated in the construction of locks, dams and bridges on the Ohio, Mississippi, Saint Lawrence, Detroit, Arkansas and other rivers. He managed a real estate office, consulted on the construction of IH-35's upper deck through Austin, was a volunteer fireman, and served six years as a Justice of the Peace (hence the title "Squire").

During his epic summer of 1966, Squire discovered both Mexico and Texas, decided to spend the rest of his life in Austin, and entered the University of Texas and its only 37 year old freshman Anthropology major.

Starting as a street vendor, he developed the Charles Lewis Company, which became world famous in pioneering the importation of Mexican folk art and weavings. Among his clients were museums, universities, governments and preservation societies around the world, and all the original primitive Mexican fok artists were his friends.

Squire was a loving father to his daughter, Cristin, and the best ex-husband he could be to Mary Lou, Nancy and Sheryll. He was a gracious friend, always willing to share his wine, his time and his stories. Squire had a special affinity for cavers and never met a campfire he didn't like.

Now it's time to put out the embers and scatter the ashes; el famoso don Carlos de Oaxaca y Austin is dead.

A memorial service will be held at the Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home in Austin on Tuesday, April 18 at 2:00 PM.

Arrangements by Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 3125 N. Lamar, 432-8811.
