3412 Obituary:

Raymond Allen Johnson
March 22, 2016 ~ October 28, 2021

Raymond Allen Johnson passed away into the arms of the Lord on October 28, 2021. Raymond was born on March 22, 2016 in Austin, Texas to the parents of Riley Daniel Johnson and Lauren Haley Trail. Raymond's love for life started on day 1 to the day he left us. Raymond was always full of so much energy, especially when he played outside, which was something that he always enjoyed. His best friends were his sister Lacey Grace and his cousin Lucas Johnson, the three of them loved playing together. Some of Raymond's favourite things included; power rangers, dinosaurs, Legos, wagon rides, and anything else they could get their hands on.

At the age of two, Raymond was your typical little boy, always experimenting and trying to test the limits of his parent's patience. This all changed for Raymond and his family on October 4, 2018, when he was diagnosed with stage 4 hepatoblastoma, a very rare childhood liver cancer that impacts just one in a million children the ages 1-3, around the world each year. Raymond started chemotherapy at Dell Children Hospital followed by 5 surgeries, one to remove the primary tumor from his liver and the rest were on his lungs. He rang the bell on June 19th, 2019, when he finished his chemotherapy, and at that time it looked like Ray was on the home stretch and was finally in remission. Unfortunately, the cancer returned in his lungs and he had to start chemotherapy again. After another 4 rounds of chemotherapy, Ray was accepted into a clinical trial to test a new cancer treatment approach at Texas Children's Hospital in Houston. In August of 2020, Ray was infused with modified CAR-T-Cells that were engineered to attack the metastasized cancer within his lungs. Through all of the treatments, Ray was always strong, always happy, and always found a way to make people smile, even when they were sad. He was truly one in a million! In January of 2021, Ray was given 10 rounds of radiation over two weeks to try and help reduce the size of the tumor. In March 2021, Ray's condition was determined to be terminal, and doctors gave Ray just one month to live. Despite this devastating news, Ray's quality of life improved dramatically and he started to regain his strength and once again enjoy his life. He took a trip with his family to Disneyworld and was part of the Lion King show. This past summer, Ray got to enjoy a normal boy's life. He got to play in the dirt, ride horses, catch fish, and even got to go to kindergarten. Ray loved the outdoors and spent some of his best days being outdoors with his family. He truly was a fighter, a warrior, and a hero to everyone.

Ray's journey inspired so many around the world to believe in miracles and re-discover their faith. The miracle was that he was with us for so long, always happy, and always smiling. He was a Ray of Light in everyone's life!

Ray is survived by his parents, Riley Daniel Johnson and Lauren Haley Trail; his sister, Lacey Grace; his grandparents, Suzy Renee Johnson and Dustan Ray Hale; Mark and Mira Johnson; Mark and Linda Trail; great grandparents, Pamela Poole and Mary Johnson; and his Uncle Ches and Aunt Kellany "Yang Yang" Johnson; and his cousin, Lucas Johnson.

Viewing will be on November 2, 2021, from 4-6 pm at Callaway-Jones Funereal Home, 3001 S. Collage Ave., Bryan, Texas 78701.

Memorial service will be on November 3, 2021, at 10 am at Hillcrest Baptist Church, 4220 Boonville Rd., Bryan, Texas 77802.

RAYNE PIONEER BURIED TODAY

Auguste Perres, Estimable Citizen Succumbs After Three Days Illness

Auguste Perres, one of the pioneer settlers of the town of Rayne, was buried this morning at 9 o'clock. Right Rev. J. B. Jeanmard, bishop of Lafayette, officiated. He was assisted by Rev. Father Doutre, pastor of the Catholic Church in Rayne. The funeral was largely attended because the deceased was held in the highest esteem by many friends.

Three days ago, Mr. Perres became ill with an acute attack of Bright's disease from which he never rallied. He passed into eternity at 10:30 o'clock Tuesday morning surrounded by his loved ones.

All of the time that he lived in Rayne, Mr. Perres conducted a blacksmith and wheelwright establishment. In later years he retired and his son, Felix Perres, carried on the business which his father established so well.

Besides his son, Mr. Perres is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Frank Jeanmard, of Lafayette, and a sister, Mrs. Walter McBride, of Rayne, as well as a number of other relatives.

Mr. Perres was always deeply concerned in the welfare of Rayne, more particularity because he was among the original settlers in the place. There remains but two more of the first citizens of the town, Auguste Perres and H.W. Anding, according to the information given to The Signal this morning.

We wish to extend our condolence to those who are grieved in the death of this much lamented citizen.

Rebecca Susan Dixon
October 20, 1952 - June 25, 2016

TRAVERSE CITY - Rebecca S. Dixon, age 63, passed away Saturday, June 25, 2016 at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City after suffering a stroke.

Rebecca was born October 20, 1952, in Odessa, Texas to Charles and Sue (Hampton) Johnson. Becky grew up in west Texas and went to high school at Pecos High School. She moved to Traverse City in 1987 where she met her late husband, Dan Dixon. They both worked in the family business, LIDSCO with her father, Charlie. Dan and Becky loved living on the Boardman River, spending many hours with friends and family.

Becky was known for her kind heart and generous spirit. She always thought of others first and went out of her way to make everyone feel comfortable. Becky was very thoughtful and often did things such as send unexpected cards in the mail or give sentimental gifts to those she loved "just because."

Becky loved music, and would often play her guitar and sing favorite folk and country songs at family gatherings. Becky got a thrill out of watching scary movies and musicals and was often found with headphones on listening to Prince or Andrea Bocelli. Her sense of humor was contagious, and she thoroughly enjoyed playing jokes on unsuspecting friends and family. Becky also loved creating things with her hands--from cooking elaborate meals to arranging flowers and making holiday ornaments. More than anything, she loved spending time with her family.

3450 Obituary:

Rev. Dr. Robert J. Sebesta
November 16, 1931 - October 6, 2025

Rev. Dr. Robert James Sebesta died on Monday October 6, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. Robert, known as Bob by his friends and family, was 93 years old when he passed. Bob was born on November 16, 1931 in a farmhouse near Caldwell, Texas in Burleson County to Joe Frank and Julia Bravenec Sebesta.

Bob is survived by Claribel, his wife of 70 years, his son Robert J. (Rob) Sebesta, Jr. (Melinda) and their children Major James Sebesta (Sarah), Olivia Jakubowski (Tomek), and Julia Sebesta, his daughter Drs. Cheryl Banks (Bill) and their children Drs. Kristen Beaver (Jared), Austin Banks, and Dr. Emily Banks and daughter Claire Sebesta (Dr. Jackie) and their children Taylor Smith (Yesenia), Joy Smith, and Jordan McGeehon (Timo), 9 great grandchildren (and one on the way), and his brother Rev. Dr. Daniel Sebesta (Marsha).

Bob's childhood education occurred in 3 room Hlavaty Rural School, from grades 1 through 9. He graduated from Caldwell High School in 1948. While living at home, with his parents and 3 brothers, Bob attended the Czech-Moravian Brethren Church in Caldwell.

Bob graduated from Southwest Texas State Teachers College in San Marcos in 1952 and Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary in 1955. Always striving to learn and grow, Bob earned his Doctorate in Ministry from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary in 1983.

In the summer of 1952 Bob met the love of his life in Dulac Louisiana and in June of 1955 he married Claribel Joan Brown of the rural community of Raymond near Jennings, Louisiana. Starting their life together and Bob's passionate ministry career immediately after, Bob was ordained as a Presbyterian pastor at his first church in Rocksprings Texas in July of 1955.

Bob lovingly served 5 Presbyterian congregations in Texas during his 42 1/2 years of ministry: Rocksprings, Portland, Harlingen, San Marcos, and Pecos. Bob believed his wife Claribel was half of his ministry because she taught, worked with women's groups, and served in the community of all of their churches. He felt called by God to pastor small churches and enjoyed all parts of a small church's life: preacher, teacher, administrator, organizer, counselor, community relations. He especially enjoyed teaching the Bible, which he continued to do through most of his retirement.

Bob's passion for helping others extended into a strong commitment to community service. Bob actively served in leadership roles in Kiwanis and Lions Clubs in the communities where they lived. Continuing his dedication to service in retirement, he served as Board President for Habitat for Humanity and was recognized as an outstanding facilitator of Parents Helping Parents program for 14 years.

In addition to church specific activities, Bob enjoyed gardening, dancing, history, researching and writing family history, genealogy, and personal memories. He was especially passionate about music and loved singing in the church choir and attending concerts whenever possible.

Bob and Claribel loved to travel. Early in their marriage they lived in Scotland for a year where they both attended St Mary's College at the University of St Andrews. While living there, they spent the summer of 1957 touring Europe, visiting 10 different countries, covering 6188 miles in 75 days on their Lambretta motor scooter (the Blue Dart).

Through Bob's passionate faith and loving embrace of others, he touched countless lives far beyond his local church ministry. He will be greatly missed, but his legacy will continue to touch lives for years to come.

The family wishes to express deep gratitude to the wonderful staff at Seguin Assisted Living, the nurses and aids from Guadalupe Regional Hospice Services and our dear Seguin Angels for the tremendous love and care shown to Bob and Claribel over the past several years.

There will be a Celebration of Life for Bob on November 15, 2025 at 10:30 am at First Presbyterian Church Seguin with a light lunch after. The family requests that persons wishing to give memorials make contributions to First Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund, 1121 E. Walnut St., Seguin, Tx 78155 or the charity of their choice.
