He was born November 16, 1936 in Tuscumbia, Ala. He was owner of Hawks Smokehouse Restaurant and a member of the Pentecostal church. He is survived by two daughters, Nikki Lynn Hawkins and Sandra Kay Hawkins both of Shreveport; mother, Ona Mae Hawkins of Shreveport; two brothers, C. Ray Hawkins and William F. Hawkins both of Shreveport; three sisters, Mary Greer of Shreveport; Mildred Tubbs of Benton and Nora Fancher of Keithville; one grandson, Brian Gordon of Jackson, Miss.; a special friend and companion, Shirley Herston. Graveside Service and Interment will be held 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 27, 2008 at Orange Forest Lawn Cemetery in Orange. Officiating will be the Reverend Lynn Ashcraft. Visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 26 at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Val was born in Lamar County near Paris, Texas on September 20, 1916, to McCullen Boyd and Mary Elizabeth Nation Dotson. She married Robert A. Whitey Crow on October 7, 1940 in Austin Texas. They moved to Orange in 1942 where Val resided for 60 years. The past six years she lived in Houston with her daughter and son-in-law. Val was a member of North Orange Baptist Church for over 50 years. She was a news stand owner and hairdresser, she enjoyed the Gift and Thrift Shop in Orange where she quilted. She started the Lunch Bunch and had many great times with her good friends. Val was preceded in death by her husband Robert Arlie "Whitey" Crow of 37 years in 1977; brother, L.M. Dotson; and sister, Melville Sims. Val is survived by these family members who loved her dearly; daughter, Rita Pate; son-in-law, J.E. | 3904 | Obituary: Valerie Weber Sebesta Valerie Weber Sebesta, age 80, of Kenedy, formerly of Victoria, died Nov. 17, 2009 after a lengthy illness. She was born Aug. 5, 1929 in Victoria County to Gus and Ceclia Heinold Weber. Her husband, Alfred O. Biediger Jr., her father, Gus Weber, and her son, Dennis Wayne Biediger were killed in an auto accident in July 1968. She married B.J. Sebesta Jr. on July 8, 1972 in Victoria. She loved the country life, baking, fishing, and her cows. Valerie and B.J. were avid dancers and active members of Beeville Summer Indian Dance Club. She is survived by her sons, A.O. "Trey" (Geralyn) Biediger of Victoria, Ken (Pennie) Biediger of Richmond, Robert Thomas (Gloria) Biediger of Alvord; her stepchildren, Bill Sebesta, Charles (Charlotte) Sebesta, and Betsy (Ben) Wielde, all of San Angelo; 19 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. She is also preceded in death by her parents; sister, Alvera Diebel; and brother, Leonard Weber. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today, Nov. 19, at Eckols Funeral Home in Kenedy. | 3905 | Obituary: Vance Ross Keller October 21, 1953 - August 20, 2016 Vance Keller, 62, passed away Saturday, Aug. 20, 2016. He had many health difficulties throughout his life, but the last few months had been extremely challenging. He was born Oct. 21, 1951, in Logan, Utah, and grew up in River Heights, Utah, with his parents, siblings, aunts, uncles and cousins. He attended Cache County Schools and graduated from Sky View High School. He also graduated with a bachelor's degree from Utah State University in commercial advertising design and illustration. He was a talented artist and a meticulous craftsman. Vance had a strong testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ and was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served as a missionary in the Netherlands Amsterdam mission and also the England Birmingham Mission. He loved serving in the Logan LDS Temple as an ordinance worker and also served a family history mission. He was a high priest in the River Heights 4th Ward at the time of his death. He is survived by his mother, Mary Charlene Keller, and siblings Guy (Carolyn) Keller, Kathy (Tyler) Griffiths, Susan (Dave) Eliason and Aaron (Becky) Keller, and many extended family members. His father, Ralph Ross Keller, preceded him in death. Graveside services will be held Friday, Aug. 26, 2016, at the Logan City Cemetery at noon. A viewing will be held at Nelson Funeral Home from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. prior to services. Vicki grew up in Houston, graduating from M.B. Smiley High School in 1966. She attended Dallas Baptist University where she was a cheerleader and met the love of her life, Kerry... Kerry and Vicki were engaged on December 23,1966 and married July 15, 1967. Together, they moved to Houston where Kerry attended Houston Baptist University, continuing to play basketball. Throughout their 54 year marriage... Kerry graduated from Houston Baptist and started his career in the tax business as a Tax Accessor Collector for Aldine ISD. He then worked as the Houston Manager for Property Tax Service. Upon leaving PTS, Kerry started his own company, AVTAX, as President and owner, with partners Paul Hawn and Charlie Pennington. Kerry was a deacon at Forest Cove Baptist Church and helped with children's Bible study classes. Kerry enjoyed barbecuing, growing tomatoes, and making his famous hot sauce. Vicki worked for Harris County tax office and attended night school. She then worked part time for Humble ISD tax office, and Forest Cove Baptist Church. Vicki's sole ambition was to be an artist, get married, and have a family. The highlight of their life was realized when Rise! was born. She started Pastor of Care ministry at Forest Cove Baptist Church which included small groups, premarital counseling, and intercessory prayer. She taught Sunday school classes, and many Bible studies, including Joy of Living. Vicki was a leader of the Stephen Ministries. She also enjoyed gardening and was involved with Kingwood Garden Club. Kerry and Vicki were members of Empty Nesters' Bible Study class at Second Baptist Church, North Campus. Together, they enjoyed entertaining their friends and family and sharing their love for the Lord. He attended the Institute of Baking in Chicago, IL before joining the US National Guard for the next 16 years. Mr. Matt also had education in the banking profession and retired from banking after 20 years of service. Following his retirement, he began a 10 year career with the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff Department before retiring. He attended St. Henry Catholic Church. He had a long time passion for antique cars and enjoyed dancing and traveling with his wife. Mr. Matt especially enjoyed family time and cherished his family and friends. | 3944 | Obituary: Virginia Bell Reily Houston November 17, 1920 - March 20, 2024 Ocean Springs, MS Virginia Bell Reily Houston, stepped into Heaven at Lighthouse Retirement Home, on Wednesday, March 20, 2024. She was 103. Virginia was born on November 17, 1920, to Hermye Bell Reily and James Shelby Reily in Shreveport, LA. She attended CE College, Byrd High School and Centenary College where she was a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority. After college she married an Air Force pilot, Earl Lafayette Houston. They were married 50 years until his passing. "Tenny", as she was affectionately known to her friends, dearly loved parties, bridge, golf, LSU, and traveling. After Earl passed, she traveled the world making new friends everywhere she went. Her favorite place was Gulf Shores, Alabama where she spent Christmas with family every year. Tenny was a member of First Baptist Church in Shreveport, LA for 80 years. She loved her church and never missed a Sunday school class. When she could no longer attend the class in person she listened to it on her phone. She spent her last three years in Ocean Springs, Mississippi, home of her daughter and son-in-law, where she enjoyed living at the Lighthouse, an assisted living facility. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, James Shelby Reily Jr.; and her son, Shelby Newton Houston. She is survived by her children, Earl 'Jay' Lafayette Houston, Jr, Susan Houston Carranza, son-in-law Elihu Carranza and daughter-in-law, Garen McGregor Houston; grandchildren, Joel Elihu Carranza, Gennan Michelle Lenert, Robin Shelby Dixon, Anna Pearn Houston, and Beatrice Houston. She was also blessed with 5 great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank all of her dedicated friends and the staff at the Oaks of Louisiana and The Lighthouse in Ocean Springs, who loved, cared for and supported her over the last few years. She was born September 29, 1936 in Cleburne to Walter Lee and Lela Roden Richards. Mrs. Burch was a beautician. She owned and operated the Artistic Beauty Salon for 50 years before retiring. Virginia was a member of Henderson St. Baptist Church. Survivors include her cousins, Margie Carper, Lajuan Tidwell and Teresa McKenna, all of Cleburne; Dorothy Clark of Weatherford, Brenda Roden of Cleburne, Janie Barrett of Gilmer, Judy Potts, Cathy Cavasos, Libby Dill and Jerry Carper, all of Cleburne; and numerous other family and friends. She was born October 1, 1922, in Piggott, to the late John Henry Crow and Evelyn Wright Crow. She was the widow of Willie Jeffress, a housewife and was of the Methodist faith. She was also preceded in death by two daughters, Linda Jeffress Nelson and Sherry Grant; one sister, Doris Crow Walker; and one brother, Earl Crow. Survivors include one daughter, Lois Sanders, of Monticello; three grandchildren, Cindy Dunemn, of Monticello, Michael Brantley, of Collinsville, Miss. and Cheryl McIlwain of Shreveport, LA; seven great-grandchildren, Ashley Shaw, Dustin Sullivan, Alex Sullivan, William Brantley, Justin Brantley, Andrew Dunemn and Misty Branch; two great-great-grandchildren, Jaxson Shaw and Sawyer Dunemn. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, February 17, 2014, at Stephenson-Dearman Chapel with Rev. Zan Pierce officiating. Burial followed in Union Ridge Cemetery. Mrs. Pace was a native of Sarepta, La., and had lived in Vicksburg since 1969. She taught and substituted in home economics for 25 years in the Vicksburg Public Schools. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and the Teachers Association. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lazarus Lee Houston and Nova Mitchell Houston and two sisters, Martha Ashworth and Thelma O'Glee. She is survived by her husband, Ernest Pace of Vicksburg one son, Glenn Pace of Detroit two daughters, Linda Trammell of Ridgeland and LeaAnn Bethany of Clinton two sisters, Caroll Youngblood of Houston, Texas, and Mary Fielder of Shreveport, La. and two grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Revs. Dwight Sibley and Macon Phillips officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park. She was a retired saleslady and minister. She was a Rebeccas Lodge member and an ordained minister. Virginia moved to Ft. Worth in 1984, she pastored the Four Square Gospel Church in Donna. She was preceded in death by her husband Asaph B. in 1977; one son Charles Leroy B. in 1937, and a daughter Lorraine Corser in 1989. She is survived by sons Loyd Blaskowsky and daughter-in-law June of San Angelo and son-in-law Myron Corser of Miss.; also by her four daughters Carolyn Thompson and son-in-law K.W. of Azle Ruby Hunt of Cordova, S. C., Louise Salsman and son-in-law R. F. of Azle, and Eleanor Koonce of Dallas. She leaves behind 39 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. today, May 30, 2000 at White's Azle Chapel. Graveside services will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, May 31, 2000, at Highland Memorial Park in Weslaco.
