| 2601 | Obituary: Loyce Talbot Gant "Granny" She died at 12:50 p.m. on Wednesday, August 15, 2007 on the Feast of the Assumption after a 5 month battle with cancer. Loyce was born on June 29, 1928 in Port Arthur, Texas and was a long time resident of Port Arthur until she moved to Austin, Texas six years ago to be near her children and grandchildren. Her parents were Annabelle and Freddie Mouton. She was married to Joe Talbot for 37 years, when he died, she married Roland Gant and was married 10 years before Roland passed away. She is also preceded in death by her beloved daughter Jody Ellen Talbot. She is survived by her children, Kent Talbot of Clear Lake, Texas, Dirk Talbot and his wife Sissy of Austin, Texas; and daughter, Molly Talbot Stuart and husband Loy of Austin, Texas; seven grandchildren, Elizabeth Talbot, Melanie Talbot, Sarah Talbot, Allison Talbot, Joe Talbot, Abby Stuart, and Ellen Stuart all of Austin, Texas. Mouton sisters and their families, Fredna LeBlanc and husband Nolan of Orange, Texas, Hazel Deslatte and husband Wilton of Port Neches, Texas, Glenda Venable of Austin, Texas, Sandy Brent and husband Ralph of Magnolia Springs, Texas; and a host of nieces and nephews who loved Aunt Loyce dearly, and many friends and family members who will always remember her humor and infectious laughter. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Austin, Texas on August 25, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Elmer Holtmann officiating. Service will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with burial in Trinity Memorial Park. He was born March 7, 1923, in Dierks, Ark. He was an operator for Cosden Oil and Chemical Co., and had worked as a farmer and a plumber. | 2603 | Obituary: Loyd Elwood Harrison ODESSA - Services for Loyd Elwood Harrison, 72, of Odessa will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Hubbard-Kelly Chapel with the Rev. Robert Fletcher officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Mr. Harrison died Sept. 24, 1997, at Medical Center Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was born March 7, 1925, in Jayton. He married Barbara Harbison Aug. 1, 1953, in Odessa. Mr. Harrison moved to Odessa in 1934 from Abilene. He was retired from Superior Paraffin Company. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a Baptist. Survivors include his wife, Barbara Harrison of Odessa; son, C.A. Popejoy of Odessa; daughter, Gwenda Aldridge of Odessa; brother, N.J. Harrison of Caney, Kan.; five grandchildren, Larry Aldridge of Dallas, Craig Popejoy, Tiffany Aldridge, Amber Aldridge and Taylor Aldridge, all of Odessa. She was born January 14, 1940 in Doddridge, Arkansas to John Charles and Hazel Doris (Waters) Watson. She moved to Indiana in 1945. She is a graduate of Westfield High School with the Class of 1958. Early years found her working at G.C. Murphy at Glendale. Loye married Russell Thomas Winders on November 7, 1959 and soon became and loved her role as full time homemaker. She was a charter member of Aromeg Extension Homemakers Club. Surviving her is her husband, Russell, daughters: Jewell A. Crawford of Cicero, IN and Jennifer M. Clanin of Cicero, IN, brothers: Charles David (Carolyn) Watson of Zionsville, IN, James Edward (Barbara) Watson of Fountaintown, IN, and John Charles (Char) Watson of Indianapolis, IN., six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Her family noted that she loved her family unconditionally, especially the grand and great-grandchildren. Her parents and a grandson, Christopher D. Estep preceded her in death. Jeffery was a native of Shreveport and lived in Shreveport most of his life. He was a member of The Joppa Masonic Lodge, a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving in the office of Special Investigations and after his career in the service he taught school at Southwood High School for 8 years. Services will be conducted at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Shreveport on Monday, May 30, 1994 at 10 a.m. Burial will be at Centuries Memorial Park. | 2606 | Obituary: Lt. Schexnyder Rites Held Here Saturday Lt. Roy L. Schexnyder, 25, who was killed when his plane crashed at Blytheville, Ark., was buried here Saturday morning with impressive military honors at a Solemn Requiem Mass at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Very Rev. Msgr. Hubert Lerschen was celebrant of the Requiem Mass with the Rev. I. A. Martin, and Rev. P. T. Dalton, S. J., as Deacon and Sub Deacon and the St. Joseph Choir singing the Mass. A Guard of Honor, composed of the following members of Arceneaux Post, American Legion, served at the church, and at the cemetery: J. G. Haines, Wallace Boudreaux, Howard Reed, Jos. Duclos, G. R. Babineaux, Lynn LeBlanc, Morris Henry, Jos. Sonnier, W. J. Plattsmier, and J. G. Servat. Pallbearers included a group of six lieutenants from the U. S. Army Air Base in Lake Charles, these being Lt. E. R. Bosco, Lt. R. R. Hammock, Lt. A. G. Smith, Lt. J. H. Bornhoeft, Lt. R. E. Connelly, and Lt. Garromene. During the services at church Msgr. Lerschen paid high tribute to Lt. Schexnyder. Military rites were observed at the cemetery and the flag was removed from the casket as it was lowered, and presented to Mrs. Schexnyder, his wife. Taps were sounded by E. C. Andrus, Jr. of Crowley. Lt. Robert O. Ball, Jr., and Mrs. Ball and Lt. Jack Sale, both instructors from the Blytheville Army Air Base served as military escort from Blytheville to Rayne. Lt. Schexnyder was an instructor at Blytheville, and had been home for a visit, and was returning to the base by plane when the accident occurred. He is survived by his widow, the former Miss Marilyn McBride, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Schexnyder, one brother, Gardner, and two sisters, Mrs. Bert Sweeney and Joyce Schexnyder. | 2607 | Obituary: LUCARIO ELIZABETH EVELYN GREER LUCARIO, 83, went to be with her Lord on July 21, 2013 at her home in Friendswood, TX. Elizabeth was born to Tommy and Billie Greer in Somerville, TX on September 16, 1929. Throughout her life, she was influenced strongly by her parents, her stepfather, Charlie Cates, her strong sense of family and most importantly, her relationship with her Lord, Jesus Christ. Elizabeth lived throughout Texas, including Milligan and Centerville, before settling in Houston, where she graduated from Jeff Davis High School as part of the "Black Battalion Drill Team". It is in Houston that she met the one and only love of her life, Tony J. Lucario. They were married in 1950. Together they raised a family in the Houston Heights where Elizabeth was active in many volunteer capacities. She served in the PTA at Robert Browning Elementary School and other school activities, and served on several committees at Christ The King Catholic Church where the family were parishioners until they relocated to the Lake Livingston area in Point Blank, TX upon retirement in 1985. Upon moving to the Lake, Tony and Elizabeth became founding members and volunteers at St. Stephen's Missionary Catholic Church in Point Blank, TX where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and in many other capacities for over 18 years. In 2008, Tony and Elizabeth moved to the Bedford Retirement Community in Friendswood, TX to be closer to their children, where they remained until present day. Elizabeth was known as a skillful dancer. She enjoyed square dancing as well as country and western dancing and could be found monthly in Houston at the local Sacred Heart Dances with her husband and friends. Elizabeth enjoyed the love of many friends and family throughout her years in the Houston Heights, Lake Livingston, and the Bedford Community in Friendswood, TX. Tony and Elizabeth raised their children with an emphasis on family, religion and strong moral values. She was a friend to all and a friend who could always be counted on to lend a helping hand. Elizabeth is survived by her loving husband Tony J. Lucario, daughter Toni Lynn Ford, son Morris W. Lucario, six grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren and many relatives and cherished friends. | 2611 | Obituary: Lucille R. Clement February 24, 1941 - September 7, 2018 Lucille Ray (Peters) Clement was born on February 24. 1941 in Bellville Texas. She passed away peacefully September 7, 2018 in Jersey Village, Texas. She is preceded in death by her husband of 38 years Gaston Inoch Clement, daughter Dawn Eileen Clement, grandson Lance Colin Clement, son-in law William (Eddie) Wadley, and parents Frank and Betty Peters. She is survived by her daughter Audra Camille Clement-Wadley, son Neil Ashley Phillips and wife kim, first cousin Robert Merman, grandson Neil Ashley Phillips II and wife Sarah Phillips, granddaughter Sarah Phillips great grandsons Dorian Ahanu Smith and Benoit Enoch Takota Smith, daughter in-law Breta Tacker and a host of friends and colleagues. Lucille grew up on a farm in the Coushatta community attending Piney Elementary and Bellville High School. She spent a lengthy career in nursing, having started as a nurse-tech at Hermann Hospital. She then became a trained vocational nurse earing her LVN certificate from Hermann Hospital School of Practical Nursing. She continued, always working full time, to earn her Associates Degree in Applied Science in 1965 as well as her Registered Nurse degree in 1972 from Lee College in Baytown, Texas. She also held Certification in Gerontological Nursing Altogether she served 46b years practicing nursing in several hospitals in the surrounding Houston area and as a staff nurse unit coordinator and nursing supervisor. She spent the last 17 years b of her career in Geriatric Mental Health Nursing. Many co-workers remained friends in retirement. She enjoyed gardening, needlepoint, traveling and reading but most of all spending time with her family. She was a very sweet and good person who was always full of excitement and will be loved and missed by all who knew her. Lucille (Clem) (Granny Clem) was a dog lover, having companion animals since childhood, starting with her first dog Trixie. She adopted many fur babies who needed a home over the years, all of whom became special friends she was also an avid reader and enjoyed traveling having visited most of the United States and Canada, the Caribbean and Europe. She made several trips to England to see her pen pal Doreen - a correspondence spanning since the age of 10. Even though she worked a lot she always had time for her children and would do anything for them from helping them with homework to taking vacations that weren't just fun, but she read up on the places they were going and would point things out and teach them about the area Granny Clem, as she became known since the birth of her first grandson was an awesome grandparent. She travelled with Neil and Sarah on many occasions to such places as the Caribbean, France, Belgium and Germany She also gave them the greatest loving gift of all by serving as a role model of challenging work perseverance and intelligent loving fun. She will be greatly missed by all. A visitation for family and friends will be held at Sterling-White Funeral Home, 11011 Crosby-Lynchburg Rd. She worked as an administrative assistant at Ryerson Steel for 32 years prior to her retirement. She was an active member of Florissant Assembly of God. She enjoyed playing the piano, reading the Bible, shopping and traveling with her family. Survivors include a sister-in-law, LaValle Webb of St, Louis, Mo.; eight nieces and nephews; eight great-nieces and nephews; six great-great-nieces and nephews; and five great-great-great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and three brothers, Leo, Harlan and Robert Webb. The Heavenly Father embraced His beloved daughter, Lucy Ethel Houston Perkins, 71, as she went to be with Him and other family members awaiting her in His eternal Presence, Saturday morning, October 28, 2000. Working with children was her greatest love. She loved all of them and invested 50 years in their welfare. Lucy could plumb the depths of their dilemmas, unlock their fragile minds and flood their souls with the light of knowledge and the love of God. She could challenge the brightest to incredible heights of learning and pull the poorer students from their places of low self-esteem and cause them to walk confidently. She was a master of the Montessori method of teaching and mothered the movement in Louisiana. She was founder and principal of the following schools: East Haven Baptist 1957-1960; Young World 1960-1963 (both in Houston, TX), Montessori School for Shreveport 1963-1978; New Life Montessori 1978-1983; LaFollo Reading Tutoring Program 1983-1987 and Christian Center School 1987-1996. Following many months of illness, Lucy walked into the church sanctuary Sunday morning, a week ago and exclaimed to the congregation, "It's wonderful to be with my family again." She and Otis, her partner in marriage for 53 years, prayed at the altar as she led what would be her final public prayer. Lucy spent most of her life championing peace between races and religions. Special appreciation is extended to the entire staff of Willis-Knighton Medical Center for their care and personal attention. Family members celebrating her life include, husband Otis; children, Dan and Pam; grandchildren, Jonathan and Kristina; great-granddaughter, Lillian; and sisters, Elaine Akins; Esther Beeman; and Carolyn Hermes along with numerous nieces and nephews whose names are written in the Lamb's Book of Life. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Rose-Neath Southside Chapel, where services will be also held Wednesday morning at 11:30 a.m. Officiating will be Dr. Billy McCormack, pastor of University Worship Center, where Lucy was a faithful member for 19 years. Ludness is survived by his loving wife of 65 years Theresa Dubois Henry of Berwick; his children Gloria Champine and her husband Roger of Morgan City, Chester J. Henry and his fiance Rosa of Maurice, Lud Henry and his wife Christine of Berwick, Belinda Boudreaux and her husband Ashley of Berwick, and Ernie Henry and his fiance Kim of Berwick; fifteen grandchildren, Faith Bran, Roger Champine, Jr., Chad Henry, Cliff Henry, LaDon Champine, Jonathan (J.P.) Henry, Hope Henry, Justin Henry, Krystal Henry, Seth Henry, Ashley Boudreaux, Jr., Matthew Henry, Ernie Henry, Jr., Bobby Boudreaux, and Timothy Henry; fourteen great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; one brother Rodney Henry, Sr. of Jennings. A celebration of life will be held in Couch Chapel of First Methodist Church of Shreveport on Thursday, November 16th at 10:00 am with Dr. Will K. Andress officiating. There will be a reception in the Chapel Parlor following the service. Lydia was born on January 11, 1942, in Logansport, Louisiana to Irma Ruth Johnson and Andrew Duke McGlathery. She was the youngest of four children. She graduated from Logansport High School where she was a Majorette and was Homecoming Queen her Senior Year. She attended Centenary College, studied Elementary Education, and was active in the Chi Omega Sorority. While at Centenary, on St. Patrick's Day 1962, she went on a blind date and met her husband of almost 61 years. Lydia was a member of the Eastern Star with her mother and sister Lela and was a member of the Junior League of Shreveport-Bossier. Once the children were grown, she followed Nevel all over Texas with his work making new friends. She and Nevel joined First Methodist Church when they moved back to Shreveport. Lydia loved her Co-Ed Sunday School Class and was a member of the United Methodist Women. She was an active member of the PEO Chapter M and enjoyed their monthly gatherings with her PEO sisters. Throughout her life, she enjoyed playing the piano, reading, attending LSU and A&M football games, and telling stories. Lydia had a gift for painting and making beautiful hand-crafted gifts for family and friends. Lydia was preceded in death by her parents Irma Ruth and Andrew Duke McGlathery; her brothers Frank and Andy McGlathery and sister Lela Tucker and her granddaughter, Audrey Claire Ehrhardt. She was the love of his life and will be missed greatly. Her sons, David and Zachary were her pride and joy. David passed away April 11, 2010, but left her a beautiful and very dear granddaughter, Bri Ann Lawrence of St. Simons Island, Ga. Her son, Zachary lives at home with Calvin and she was very proud of the man that he is becoming. Lynette had a love for God and Jesus that eventually led her to Landmark Worship Center in Bethalto. Her friends are countless. Pastor Mark Burk and his wife Rhonda Burk are two of the finest people that Lynette and Calvin had the opportunity to meet and know and have in their lives. | 2646 | Obituary: Maj Lawrence Kelly Irving, USAF, March 25th, 1940 - September 5th, 2020 Lawrence Kelly Irving, 80, died in the care of his loving wife at home in Colorado Springs, Colorado, September 5, 2020. He entered Heaven's gates at 12:15pm because of his renewed faith in Christ. He was born on March 25, 1940, in Phoenix, Arizona to Walter Lee Irving and Lawilda W. McGrew. Upon graduation from Hollywood High, Hollywood, California, in 1958, he joined the Aviation Cadet Program with the US Air Force. He received his navigator wings and commission in 1960 and was assigned to B-47s with the Strategic Air Command at Mountain Home AFB, Idaho. In 1966, while assigned to Mountain Home, Kelly became the father of a beautiful daughter, Kelly Suzanne Irving. He entered pilot training at Laredo AFB and received his pilot wings in 1967. Upon graduation he began his career as a fighter pilot which took him to assignments to Cannon AFB, New Mexico; Bien HOA AB, Vietnam; PhuCat AB, Vietnam; Craig AFB, Alabama; Ubon RTAFB, Thailand; Spangdahlem AB, Germany; and Eglin AFB, Florida. He was a command pilot with over 3,500 hours total flying time in the T-37, T-38, T-39, B-47, F-100, and F-4. He served his country with two tours of duty in Southeast Asia, with over 800 combat hours. While in Southeast Asia on his first tour he volunteered to serve as a Misty FAC, with the callsign of Misty 66. While flying as a Misty he was shot down by enemy ground fire and later rescued. After returning Stateside he served a short tour in Air Training Command prior to volunteering for a second combat tour. During this second tour while flying the F-4 he participated in, and led, combat missions during Linebacker II. His military awards include the Silver Star with Oak Leaf Cluster, Distinguished Flying Cross with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters, Air Medal with 29 Oak Leaf Clusters, and the Purple Heart. In 1978, while at Eglin AFB working at TAWC, Kelly met Gail, the love of his life. They were married November 9, 1979, and their life journey began. Kelly retired from the USAF in January 1980. Together, they enjoyed scuba diving, traveling, flying, skiing, church, their pets, family and friends. March 1981, Kelly became an airline pilot with New York Air which later merged into Continental Airlines, retiring as a DC-10 Captain in March 2000. They went on to build their dream home in Florissant, Colorado, where they lived until August 2019. In September, Kelly and Gail moved to Colorado Springs and enjoyed their beautiful new home until his passing. In addition to his military and commercial flying, Kelly was an avid general aviation pilot and a member of the Quiet Birdmen. A raconteur of the highest order, he will be remembered as a true patriot and strong supporter of Constitutional Law. He is survived by his wife of forty-one years, Gail Irving; his daughter, Kelly Suzanne Taylor; and many extended family and friends. | 2648 | Obituary: Major Richard "Tracer" Walter Schafer, III October 30, 1978 - August 31, 2014 Rick was born October 30, 1978 in Houston, TX to Richard W. Schafer Jr. and Margaret Elizabeth White Schafer. He married Ashley Thornton Schafer on July 7, 2001. A native of Austin, TX, Rick attended Bowie High, where he initiated the school's ROTC program, lettered in football as the team's fullback, and graduated in the top five percent of his class in 1997. Rick went on to graduate from the United States Air Force Academy in 2001 as a member of the 18th squadron "Knight Riders". He then attended Undergraduate Pilot Training at Laughlin AFB, TX where he graduated at the top of his class in 2002. "Tracer", as he was known to his fellow pilots, was a decorated Air Force Veteran: with over 2,000 flight hours in the F-16 and T-38. He attended training for the F-16 at Luke AFB, AZ in 2003. He went on to fly F-16s in the 555th Fighter Squadron, the "Triple Nickel", in Aviano Air Base, Italy. With the "Triple Nickel" he flew combat missions over Bosnia, Kosovo, Iraq and Afghanistan. "Tracer" then served as an Introduction to Fighter Fundamentals instructor pilot at Moody AFB, GA; Sheppard AFB, TX; and twice at Columbus AFB, MS, where he excelled in preparing future pilots for combat. Rick also served as Safety Officer while deployed to Ali Air Base, Iraq, was a graduate of Air Command and Staff College and Squadron Officers School. Rick was an accomplished aircraft builder and pilot, skilled woodworker, an expert in home remodeling and welding and loved to hunt. Always outgoing and upbeat, he had a lasting impact on everyone he met. Avery and Rachel's Daddy participated in every aspect of their lives including reading Bible stories, playing dress-up and teaching them how to use their pink BB guns safely. Rick and Ashley were high school sweethearts and were married for 13 amazing years and they are members of Columbus Church of Christ in Columbus, MS. Rick passed away August 31, 2014, along with his brother Matthew Taylor Schafer, in a small plane crash outside of Abilene Texas. He is survived by his beloved wife, Ashley and daughters Avery and Rachel; parents, Richard W. | 2649 | Obituary: Malcolm Green September 10, 1940 - November 27, 2015 Malcolm Green, 75, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend passed away at St. Joseph's Hospital in Bryan from a stroke following heart surgery. A celebration of his life will be held at 10:00am, Wednesday, December 2nd at First Baptist Church of Navasota with interment to follow at Oakland Cemetery. Rev. Clyde Larrabee will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel. Malcolm was born on September 10, 1940, in Pittsburg, Texas and was raised in Cisco, Texas. He received degrees from Cisco High School in 1959 and Cisco Junior College in 1961, and briefly attended University of Texas at Austin. Malcolm graduated from the University of Houston in 1984 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business and Commerce. He worked for Shell Oil Company for 33 years in Midland and Houston, primarily as a petrophysical and economic analyst. Malcolm was a Red Brangus cattle breeder from 1990-2006. He lived in Houston for 24 years before becoming a resident of Navasota in 1990. He received great pleasure from service to his community throughout his life. He was a leader in local Houston civic associations and served as a youth softball and soccer coach for many years. Malcolm was honored to serve in a variety of positions on the Navasota Planning and Zoning Commission, the Navasota Historic Preservation Committee, and the Grimes County Historical Commission. He was also a board member of the American Red Brangus Association. Malcolm was very supportive of the Navasota Independent School District Education Foundation, where he was a founding director. In Grimes County, he was also a founding director and vice chairman of the Two Rivers Heritage Foundation, an organization dedicated to preserving buildings, documents, and other historical artifacts. Malcolm was also an active member of the Grimes County Republican Party where he served in a number of leadership capacities including chairman from 2006-2009. Malcolm had a life-long love of anything with an engine and enjoyed restoring and rebuilding cars. He had a passion for cooking, barbecue (cooking, competing, and judging), guns, football, history, genealogy, and politics. He spent many hours perfecting his recipes, writing his own cookbooks, and researching his family history. No one ever saw Malcolm without his cowboy hat and his boots. His friends will remember his passion for politics, which was core to his conservative beliefs and values. He knew no stranger. He was a great and faithful friend, and maintained longstanding friendships, especially with his Cisco High School classmates. Malcolm is predeceased by his parents James Green and Mabel Dee Faulk Green, son Robert Malcolm Green II, brothers Gene Green, Martin Green, and his sister Jan Green Mueller. He is survived by his wife Martha Robison Green and his two daughters Susan Elizabeth Green Scott and former son-in-law James Scott, and Julia Arlene Green Morrison and her husband Martin Morrison. His loving grandchildren include Susan's children Sarah Scott and Matthew Scott; Julia's children Nicholas Cubides, Sebastian Cubides, Montgomery Morrison, and Maxwell Morrison; and Robert's daughter Jessica Palmer Whitehead, her husband Tim and their daughter Adelinn Whitehead. He is also survived by his stepchildren Foster Johnson, Alec Johnson and Melissa Johnson, and by many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins, including Myrna Graham, Eric Green, Jaclyn Green, Jessica Green Vance, Paige Mueller Franklin, and others.
